The 20-second formula
Hook (0–2 seconds)
Show the mug text immediately and let it land, OR use a text overlay: "buying this for my mum immediately." The first 2 seconds determine whether anyone watches. Never open with branding or a logo.
Reveal (2–12 seconds)
Hold up the product. Rotate slowly. Show all text. Natural window light is better than artificial — no glare, no shadows, looks clean. Add a text overlay if the slogan needs emphasis.
Close (12–20 seconds)
Let the funny line land and cut — the product sells itself. Or add: "in my shop 🎁." Tag the product using TikTok's product link feature before posting. This places a buy button on the video.
Posting frequency
3 posts/week minimum. Consistency beats volume — 3 posts every week outperforms 10 in one week then silence. Finding trending sounds: TikTok → search → Trending → Audio. Pick one from the top 10 that fits the tone. Add it after filming in TikTok's editor, 30 seconds of work.
Caption formula
"She'll know exactly who sent it. Tag her. 🎁"
"This is literally my mum's biography on a mug."
"If you know, you know. #perimenopause"
"Not for anyone specific. Just in case."
